Chris Clark, Director of Operations - UK

Chris Clark joined The Stroke Association as Director of Operations UK in January 2007.

He was an NHS manager in various London hospitals until 1986, and since then he has worked in the voluntary sector. He moved to St Christopher’s Hospice where he stayed for 14 years; being responsible for all general management functions and taking an instrumental role in the modernisation of St Christopher’s. In 2000 he became chief executive of the charity Action for M.E. and took a leading role in gaining recognition of the illness by government and subsequent NHS investment in its treatment.

On taking up his role with The Stroke Association, Chris says, “The needs of people affected by stroke are enormous and sadly have been unrecognised by many. Our role will be to offer services that provide access to all who need them and that are of the highest quality.

I am also determined to reach out to the whole of the UK and work with others both to ensure that stroke gets the attention that its impact deserves, and that we listen and learn from the experiences of people affected by stroke.”
