Jim Swindells - Director of Fundraising
Jim joined The Stroke Association in February 2009 as the new Director of Fundraising responsible for generating income from individuals, companies, trusts and foundations and some statutory funding from the Department of Health.
Our current portfolio of fundraising initiatives includes Direct Marketing, large scale sporting and challenge events, applications for specific projects as well as seeking partnerships with companies for sponsorship, charity of the year agreements, affinity marketing and staff fundraising plus a range of community fundraising and legacy marketing.
Jim’s mission is to formulate and deliver the strategy to develop The Stroke Association’s fundraising and bring it into the “Fundraising Premiership”.
Jim says “Whilst our income has grown significantly over the last four years, there is still a long way to go, particularly when you consider the huge numbers of people affected by stroke. It is vital for us to find new ways of raising the money we need to help The Stroke Association expand, increase the amount we spend on research and create more services to support stroke survivors and their families. I believe we can build on the momentum created by the stroke strategy and the greater awareness produced by the FAST campaign to encourage more financial support.”
Prior to joining The Stroke Association, Jim spent 4 years as Director of Fundraising for The Peace Hospice and has over 20 years previous experience working in fundraising and communication roles for national charities like Action for Children, Sense and Mencap, after his early career in marketing and sales in the private sector.
