Will you help us invest in life-saving research?

Please will you help us invest in life-saving research?

To so many of us, Researchresearch is important because it’s about change. Despite all that has been done, one in six people will have a stroke in their life-time. About a third are likely to die, about a third recover, and about a third are left with disabilities, and need help to regain their speech and use of affected limbs.

Research could change this.

It could give us new ways to prevent stroke, new treatments for stroke and new techniques to help survivors recover. Of course, none of this will happen overnight and without investment in research, it’s likely it won’t happen at all.

Much of what we know about stroke today is as a result of research funded by The Stroke Association, and we need your help to ensure this groundbreaking work can continue.

Please will you help by setting up a regular monthly gift?

We appreciate every gift, because we know that when you invest money in research, the returns can be amazing.

The Stroke Association has funded research projects throughout the UK which have made pioneering scientific breakthroughs and led to practical benefits that have saved and improved lives, projects like Professor Peter Rothwell’s at the Radcliffe Infirmary, University of Oxford.

Up to 30 per cent of strokes happen following a ‘mini stroke’ or Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA). People often miss out on treatment that could prevent a further stroke because of delays in assessing them.

Professor Rothwell has developed a simple tool to identify patients who are most at risk of another stroke. The research eventually led to the ABCD2 score, meaning that medical staff can now calculate a risk score, enabling them to quickly decide which patients need to be prioritised for treatment, improving their chances of preventing a further stroke.

It is important that more breakthroughs follow, but we urgently need to find the funds to ensure this essential work continues.

The Stroke Association is the largest charity funder that solely funds stroke research in the UK. Your help today could help fund crucial research projects that could lead to a world with fewer strokes.

Your generosity could make all the difference. Please complete the form to the right today.

£3 could help pay for expensive equipment required to carry out important research

£5 could help fund stroke specialists of the future through our Research Fellowship programme

£10 could help fund more vital research projects that could change and even save lives

Thank you.

Your gift to support vital stroke research

Your support will help to ensure we can support more research into the treatment and prevention of stroke. As a result we hope to reduce the number of those who have a stroke in the future as well as provide more effective rehabilitation and treatment for stroke survivors.

If you are a tax payer in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland you can also qualify for gift aid on your donation and contribute even more.

Thank you so much for supporting this important work.
