Thank you for
taking some
time to find out about the amazing impact our supporters have on crucial stroke
research and support for stroke survivors throughout the UK.
Every year The Stroke Association receives applications from accomplished academics and medical professionals to support their research into stroke. These applications are rigorously screened and evaluated to identify the most crucial projects and eventually the most promising are awarded the funding they need to make their research a reality.
One example of the research that our supporters helped make a reality is that of Dr Werring. In a project funded by The Stroke Association, leading Neurologist Dr David Werring is studying the genes and other factors that trigger brain aneurysms to rupture – a major cause of stroke.
Dr Werring’s discoveries will help to identify those at highest risk of stroke, so they can take preventative action before their lives are devastated.
High-calibre research like this could transform and even save lives. But it is also expensive.
Ultimately, the decision about how many research projects we can fund rests on how much money we have available.
Thanks to continuing support of people like you we also provide a wide range of vital services throughout the UK from providing support stroke survivors and their loved ones through to campaigning to raise awareness of stroke.
Filling out the form to the right will just take a few minutes, and it really could bring hope to so many people. Thank you so much.
