Research
Research into stroke is vital to allow health professionals to gain the evidence needed to convince health service planners and managers to improve clinical services for stroke patients. It also helps identify how therapy and care should be improved to save lives and limit disability. In addition to funding research projects, The Stroke Association supports training for doctors to specialise in stroke care, and training for nurses and therapists to pursue careers in stroke research.
In 2005/06, The Stroke Association spent £1.8 million on a wide range of research, so you can see just how important your support is. Without the help of our supporters we would not be able to continue funding this vital research that moves us closer to our vision of a world where there are fewer strokes and all those touched by stroke get the help they need.
