Step up for Stroke
12/5/2009
Join thousands in a sponsored step on Stroke Awareness Day, 12 May 2009 to raise money to fight the UK’s third biggest killer.
We all know that walking is good for us, so why not challenge yourself – and your friends and family – to raise money for a fantastic cause by taking as many steps as you can in one day.
What’s more, we’ll give you a FREE pedometer to help you on your way.
Even if you are not able to walk very far, you can still join in as every step counts! Just set yourself a goal, sign up using the downlaodable entry form on this page, get walking and raise money for a fantastic cause. You really don’t have to be fast, just make it count!
By taking part in this free fundraising event, you can make a difference no matter what your age or level of fitness.
Walking 10,000 steps a day can help to reduce body fat, and to lower and prevent high blood pressure and cholesterol – major risk factors for stroke. Here are some ways to step up for stroke:
- Go on foot for some or all of the way to work or school
- Walk your, or someone else’s, dog
- Walk up or down the stairs, rather than taking the lift
- Enjoy a stroll with your partner, friends, or children.
