Fundraiser of the Month - Tom Murphy
27 February 2009
Fundraiser of the Month February 2009
Every year The Stroke Association is supported by the fundraising efforts of thousands of people who all go ‘the extra mile’ to raise much needed funds. We would like to recognise this through our Fundraiser of the Month Award.
Please join us in congratulating Tom Murphy, our January Fundraiser of the month. Tom had a stroke two years ago whilst in his early 40’s. He has been fundraising for us ever since.
Tom raises funds by taking part in running events, the most recent of which was The Aarhus Marathon in Denmark. He is currently training for his next challenge, The Comrades Marathon.
As well as being a busy landlord, Tom trains 5 days per week. He has a collecting tin on the bar of his local pub which has raised over £885 in the last year. Tom has already raised over £6000 for The Stroke Association.
He generates a great deal of press coverage and often invites the press along to talk about the importance of The Stroke Association and how we have supported him. He is also happy to be a media spokesperson and offers much needed support to anyone who has been touched by stroke.
We would like to thank him for all his commitment and support and present him with a Certificate of Achievement. He was nominated by Chris Wynn, Regional Fundraising Manager, South East
