Spring Fling Abseil brings smile all round
18 March 2009
Over 200 participants and supporters joined us at the Manchester Velodrome for a March Hare-raising Spring abseil.
We were joined by a team from Merseyside Police and a group of nurses from Birmingham Hospital.
Manchester Evening News also dropped in to show their support.
Our intrepid abseilers scaled the narrow access bridge above the Velodrome before dropping 140ft into the pit below.
The British Cycling Team added some extra excitement as they trained below the drop zone.
Congratulations to the Manchester Events Team: Rebecca Owen, Laura Thwaite and Louise Elliott for all their hard work.
We would also like to thank everybody who participated, all the volunteers who gave up their time to support us and, last but not least, our fantastic abseil company, Abseil UK, who were full of laughter and put all our nervous participants at ease.
This event raised over £9000 for The Stroke Association.
We are now looking forward to our International Man of Mystery Abseil at Fort Dunlop this weekend which has attracted over 600 participants. It is going to be Groovy Baby!
