As expected there were snaking queues of supporters vying to get their hands on the latest must have fashion trends from The Tweedmill in collaboration with The Stroke Association.

The Tweedmill launched its new autumn collection with a Fashion Show on Wednesday 1 October, with a unique twist – all the models were stroke survivors. The Stroke A-Wear-Ness Fashion Show turned out to be an emotional evening, with over £1,000 raised from the event that was in aid of The Stroke Association.

The aim of a Stroke A-Wear-Ness Fashion Show is to re-build the self-confidence and self-esteem of stroke survivors, with stroke survivors themselves modeling the clothes and helping to organise the event. The Fashion Show also provided an opportunity to raise crucial funds to support the work of The Stroke Association and to increase awareness of stroke and its devastating effects within the local community.

One of the members of the audience, Mary Hughen said: “The atmosphere in the room was one of real camaraderie and the applause at the end was deafening with a standing ovation. To be honest I had a tear in my eye. Watching the fashion show made me realise how brave some people really are, and that with the right attitude you can do whatever you want.”
