Leicester working age long-term support group
Following a successful information day for people of working age affected by stroke at the Leicester Tigers ground, as shown in the picture below, a long-term support group was launched on 29 April with a buffet lunch at The Y Bar in Leicester. Derby Younger Strokes Contact Group

Ashbourne Stroke Club Award
Ashbourne and District Stroke Support Group were awarded an Excellence in the Community Award by Derbyshire County Council for the work that they have done with stroke survivors and carers in Ashbourne. Congratulations to the club for this well deserved award.
Stroke Clubs networking
Stroke clubs were invited to get together and share ideas and experiences in Coalville on Thursday 27 March. Those who attended talked enthusiastically about the National Stroke Strategy for England, changing local services, recruiting members and transport.
More networking opportunities will take place later in the year.
Nottingham stroke clubs celebrate
Stroke clubs in Nottingham joined The Stroke Association and The Hospital Stroke Service to celebrate 25 years of support for people affected by stroke in the city.
Members who attended enjoyed a historical timeline presentation with anecdotes, facts, figures and photographs, followed by afternoon tea and musical entertainment.
Parklands Stroke Club from Long Eaton really pushed the boat out for their Brass Band concert. Long Eaton Silver Prize Band played all their old favourites and members and guests had a really enjoyable evening, as pictured below.
North Derbyshire Stroke Group enjoyed a visit and a talk from Christine Bell, The Stroke Association's Regional Information Officer, about The Stroke Alliance for Europe and their stroke awareness campaign. Pictured below with the group is The Stroke Association's local Family and Carer Support Co-ordinator, Julie Wheelhouse.
