There are a number of stroke risk factors and taking steps to change or modify as many of them as you can will help you lower your risk. Follow the links below to find out more about what you can do.
Stop smoking - Smoking doubles your risk of a stroke
Drink sensibly - Drinking too much alcohol raises blood pressure
Healthy eating - Healthy eating is essential for a healthy heart and bloodstream
Take more exercise - Regular physical activity helps to lower blood pressure
Watch your weight - being overweight is a risk factor for high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes, all of which increase your risk of stroke.
