Volunteer in the North West

Are you committed to getting involved in your local community? Do you live in the North West and have some time to spare? Do you enjoy meeting new people and want to learn new skills or share your experiences? If you have said yes to any of these questions, then we think you would make a great volunteer.

The Stroke Association appreciates that everyone has a different amount of time they can offer and we are grateful for any help you can give.

We are committed to providing our volunteers with a positive experience. All our volunteers will be given an induction and will receive full training and support. CRB checks for many roles will be required.

We are currently looking for...

Fundraising volunteers

If fundraising is where your strengths lie, join The Stroke Association by becoming a fundraising volunteer. Be involved in all kinds of roles at events, help out with collections or be a static box organiser. There are lots of opportunities to suit the amount time you have to give.

Stroke Awareness volunteers

Public awareness of stroke is still low and we are working hard to try and change this. Better public awareness is key to preventing more strokes and ultimately saving lives. There are lots of ways you can get involved in this important health message. Come along to events and exhibitions, present informal talks on stroke to local community groups and schools or help deliver our printed information to hospitals, GP surgeries and community centres.

Communication Support Volunteers

Can you imagine not being able to talk to your family or friends, or write a letter? Volunteers are needed to help people who have been left with speech and communication difficulties following a stroke. If you have patience and a caring attitude we would love to hear from you.

Stroke Support Group Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to support people who have been affected by stroke in a group environment. If you have patience and a caring attitude we would love to hear from you. We are setting up new groups in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Winsford, Crewe, Bolton, Merseyside, Macclesfield, Kendal, Wigan and Wirral, so if you are interested please get in touch.

If you are interested in any of these roles or any aspect of volunteering, contact our regional office on 0161 745 8222.
