Local services in the South East Coast

Strokes can have a devastating effect on individuals and families. The Stroke Association's Life After Stroke Services provide support and advice for stroke survivors, their families and carers.

These services include:

Communication Support Service:
Communication Support Service Co-ordinators work with stroke survivors and their families on aspects of communication.

Family and Carer Support Service:
This is a home visiting service where a Family and Carer Support Co-ordinator helps everybody understand the effects of stroke and provides practical support and advice.

Peer Support, Exercise and Education Service:
Peer Support, Exercise and Education Co-ordinators provide practical and emotional support, information and guidance to people who have suffered a stroke, their families and carers, as well as an exercise and interactive education programme.

Stroke Personal Budgets Support Service
Stroke Personal Budgets Support Co-ordinators help stroke survivors understand Personal Budgets (also known as Direct Payments) and select the care and support package which best suits their needs.

Young Stroke Services:
Young Stroke Service Co-ordinators provide information, emotional support and practical advice to younger stroke survivors, their families and carers.

These services are funded by local health and social service authorities.
