Peer Support, Exercise and Education Service
Many people struggle to cope with the effects of a stroke.
The Peer Support, Exercise and Education (PSEE) service works collaboratively with other health professionals and aims to provide information and emotional support, by intervening as soon as possible after a stroke.
With the help of trained peer support volunteers the service enables families caring for someone who has had a stroke to cope with the practical and emotional problems of disability.
In addition, a PSEE co-ordinator will carry out an assessment and devise an individual exercise programme with the client.
Supplementary information and advice on primary and secondary prevention, including lifestyle issues such as good health, smoking cessation and healthy eating, will also be provided to people affected by stroke and/or transient ischaemic attack (TIA).
These exercise and education programmes are developed in consultation with the client, and goals are set to encourage greater independence and improve the quality of life after stroke.
We currently have a Peer Support, Exercise and Education Service in East Sussex. Please see below for contact details.
