Know Your Blood Pressure - Shropshire and Staffordshire
Rotary clubs across Shropshire and Staffordshire have teamed up with the Heart and Stroke Network to deliver our Know Your Blood Pressure campaign at a number of events across the two counties.
At these events members of the public will be able to have their blood pressure checked by health professionals and receive advice about reducing their risk of stroke and other related conditions. Other health checks such as BMI and blood sugar testing will also be available at several of the events.

High Blood Pressure and Stroke
Blood pressure is a measure of the force with which the blood presses on the walls of the arteries as it is pumped around the body. This pressure varies throughout the day however hypertension, or high blood pressure, develops when the pressure of the blood running through the vessels is consistently too high.
Untreated high blood pressure is the biggest single risk factor for stroke. However, lifestyle measures and the right medication can help reduce high blood pressure. This is important because an estimated 40% of strokes could be avoided if high blood pressure was controlled.
