West Midlands Services Continue to Grow
06 January 2010
Life After Stroke Services across the region have continued to multiply in the second half of 2009 with provision of new Communications Support, Information, Advice and Support, Long Term Support and Primary Prevention and Back to Life Services.
The West Midlands now boasts Family and Carer Support available universally across the region except in South Warwickshire where the service is currently being negotiated and expected early in the New Year, and Dudley where a similar service is provided by Dudley Stroke Association, an independent organisation.
In the past few months we have seen particularly rapid growth in South Staffordshire where services have increased to cover the entire county.
Stroke Survivors in South Staffordshire now have access to the full range of Stroke Association services including Family and Carer Support, Communications Support, Long Term Support and Back to Life.
The Stroke Association will also be running a Primary Prevention Programme across the county and providing FAST training for frontline staff.
Services across the West Midlands have now more than doubled since the stroke strategy money was made available 18 months ago.
