The World Stroke Organization urges everyone to fight stroke
12 November 2009
On 29 October 2009 The World Stroke Organization (WSO) encouraged people all over the world to run World Stroke Day events to increase awareness of stroke, and action that can be taken against it.
The Stroke Association worked in partnership with others to host an event in Scotland involving stroke survivors and carers in stroke research. The event was the first of its kind in Scotland, giving stroke survivors the opportunity to enter into discussions about current research and ideas for future research.
About 80 people came along to the event of which half were stroke survivors and carers. Scottish Television ran a news item about the event and feedback was very positive. It is hoped there will be more events like this in the future.
Partners involved included:
- World Stroke Organisation
- Scottish Stroke Research Network
- Nursing, Midwifery Allied Health Professions Research Unit
