Stroke: The Way Forward
20 July 2009
The Stroke Association in Wales held a very successful reception in the Welsh Assembly this month.
'Stroke: the way forward' which took place in the Oriel, which has panoramic views across Cardiff Bay, was very well attended by stakeholders including the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, ABHI, General Medical Council, National Public Health Service and many clinicians and politicians.
Hosted by one of our staunchest supporters in the Assembly, the Mid and West Wales AM Joyce Watson, our event was addressed by Stroke Association Cymru Director Wendy Davies, Neurologist Dr Tom Hughes and Chair of the Health Committee, Darren Millar AM.
Stroke is very high on the agenda amongst politicians in Wales at the moment with the Assembly Health Committee currently holding an Inquiry into stroke services.
