Returning to driving after a stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA) can be an important part of recovery. There are several reasons why someone may not be able to drive after a stroke and these include problems with vision, concentration or mobility. This factsheet describes the regulations for driving after a stroke, when a driving assessment is necessary, when to tell your insurance company and driving with a disability. It also lists organisations that can provide advice and information.
We have produced a simple form that drivers with communication problems following a stroke can use to provide their insurance details and to get the insurance details of other drivers involved in any incident. You can download two versions of this form below:
