After a stroke many people develop aphasia (also called dysphasia) which creates difficulty with speaking, finding words, reading, writing or understanding. Many therapists use computer software as part of the rehabilitation process and have found it to be successful.

This factsheet lists organisations that sell or can provide help in accessing and using communication aids and software. If you are considering buying or using communication aids it is advisable to consult a speech and language therapist first for advice.
