Research

One of our most important roles is to support and promote research into stroke prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and long-term care.
Research provides the evidence needed to convince health service providers to improve clinical services and give better care to people who have had a stroke.
At the same time, research helps us to learn about how strokes may be prevented so that the number of people having a stroke is reduced.

As well as our own programme of research, we encourage the Government and other funding groups to increase their spending on stroke research. The Stroke Association also funds training for doctors, nurses and therapists to follow a career in stroke research.
