The Stroke Association gives information and support when you need it most

If you have had a stroke, or have been affected by a stroke in any way, you will have many questions about what has happened and what is likely to happen in the future. You may be looking for information on practical advice or simply someone to talk to.

The Stroke Helpline provides information about:

• stroke
• how to get help and support at home
• local Stroke Association services
• other organisations.

We can explain what puts people at risk of stroke and give you some guidance on coping with life after a stroke. We can tell you what steps to take to try and reduce the likelihood of another stroke.

We send out Leaflets and Factsheets on all aspects of stroke, from prevention to recovery.

We will:

• explain what a stroke is and what can cause a stroke
• tell you about local services and stroke clubs
• help you find support services near you
• listen and reassure you.

We are not able to:

• give you medical advice
• give you detailed benefits advice
• recommend individual stroke services
• recommend private health care providers
