A Special Christmas Menu

04/12/2002

Despite what some experts may say, not all seasonal food has to be bad for you. In fact several of the foods we eat at Christmas time can help to reduce your risk of a stroke.

The Stroke Association has devised a special Christmas Day menu that tastes good, has a balance of healthy foods and it can help to reduce your risk of a stroke.

Studies show that the best way to stay healthy is to eat a diet high in fruit and vegetables but low in fat and salt. Experts recommend we eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Even one piece of fruit is good for you - in fact it can lower your risk of stroke by around six per cent.

The Association's Christmas Day menu contains a guide to the individual foods we should be eating to help reduce the risk of a stroke.

This menu was produced in 2002 and is no longer available.
