Response to ‘Alteplase can be used 3-4.5 hours post-stroke, not just within 3 hours’ in The Lancet

Dr Peter Coleman from The Stroke Association commented:

“This research shows that there is a degree of flexibility in the administration of Alteplase which is very promising. However, time lost is brain lost and we mustn’t become complacent. The quicker a stroke patient is admitted to hospital the better their recovery is likely to be.

“Stroke is the UK’s leading cause of adult disability and we welcome all research that seeks to improve outcomes following a stroke.”
