The Stroke Association supporting statement on the Food Standards Agency Salt campiagn

20/09/2004

"Mounting evidence shows that increasing levels of salt in our diets can lead to high blood pressure, which is the single biggest risk factor for stroke.

Over 130,000 people have a stroke each year. Lowering our salt intake by 3g per day could reduce the number of strokes by a third and prevent around 20,500 deaths from the condition in the UK."
