Golden VIP drive for stroke survivors
The Golden BMW convoy brightened up the day of some very special stroke survivors. Two cars arrived on Tuesday morning at their homes in South London to be taken to Eltham to enjoy their summer party.
Alhagie, Mark, Terry and Stephen were given a taste of Olympic gold before the start of the Games. The fantastic four were treated to a golden VIP air conditioned lift, which was a welcome respite for the passengers from the heat.
Terry said: “Thank you so much it has been a pleasure, a real pleasure, I now know how the gold medal winners at the Games will feel”! Stephen said “ I feel like a VIP. I often find it difficult to walk any great distance, so the door to door service was a real help”. Many stroke survivors used to drive before their stroke and the prospect of using public transport can be quite daunting. One stroke survivor supported by the charity has commented "when using public transport I often feels that people don’t understand that I need more time".
Our four gold VIPs are supported by Stroke Association who believe in a Life after stroke. The national charity funds research to develop new treatments and ways of preventing stroke, campaign on stroke issues and provide support for stroke survivors and their families. The Stroke Helpline (0303 303 3100) provides information and support on stroke. The Golden BMW convoy has been in London celebrating the greatest show on earth, the London 2012 Olympic Games giving people the opportunity to experience the Games first hand.
