European Stroke Research
There is some exciting new stroke research being conducted in Europe right now. The European Commission has made this video to demonstrate some of the projects they are funding as part of the European Stroke Network.
The Stroke Association supports European research through its membership of the Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE), a not-for-profit organisation that represents stroke patient groups across the continent. SAFE is a partner in several European stroke research projects to make sure current research addresses the needs of the people who matter— the patients. Involvement in clinical trials also helps patient organisations stay up-to-date with the latest research developments, and ensures that this potential live-saving knowledge reaches patients and healthcare professionals all across Europe.
Below you can read about some of the ground-breaking research projects going on in Europe and how the Stroke Association and SAFE are supporting them:
- WAKE-UP: Can emergency treatment be extended to those waking up with a stroke?
- EuroHYP-1: Can cooling patients reduce the amount brain damage and disability caused by a stroke?
- European Stroke Network: Developing ways to protect and repair the brain after stroke.
- CogWatch: Developing rehabilitation tools for stroke survivors with mental difficulties.
