Personal Budget Support Service
Personal budgets are a new English Government initiative designed to give people more choice and control over their care.
People with long-term conditions are given money to buy their own occupational therapy, community physiotherapy or whatever other social care services they need.
Many stroke survivors would be eligible to receive personal budgets. However, they have complex and varied needs, and it’s not always easy to know how best to spend the money that would be available to them.
People with communication and cognitive problems may need particular assistance with planning and paying for their own care.
Our Personal Budget Support Service is designed to help people affected by stroke to understand the choices available to them, so they can decide how to spend their personal budget.
We can adapt the service according to local circumstances and can provide consultancy to local authorities to help them establish the type of service that will work best in their area.
Outcomes
• People affected by stroke have more choice and control over their care
