Stroke fundamentals and risk factors

Aim:

To be clear about what a stroke & Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) are, what causes it and the range of effects

Objectives:

• To be clear what stroke and TIA are
• To know the signs and symptoms of a stroke /TIA
• To know that stroke is a medical emergency and to act F.A.S.T
• To have an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the brain in relation to effects of stroke
• To have an awareness of what the Stroke Association does
