Caring for people affected by stroke (CFPABS)
This programme has been validated against NVQ/SVQ level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, and each delegate receives a certificate with the knowledge evidence met listed on the back.
Aims
This training aims to provide those caring for people affected by stroke with knowledge and understanding about stroke, and to enable them to develop skills for their care practice.
The day is full of intensive activity that makes full use of participants’ knowledge and experience.
Every aspect of the day will be linked to participants’ actual practice.
Objectives
By the end of the day, participants will:
- be clear about what a stroke is, what causes it and the range of effects
- have considered the needs of people who have had strokes, and their families and friends
- be aware of the roles of different professionals and services available
- know how stroke can affect movement, mobility and continence
- understand the impact of physical effects on daily living
- have considered practical implications for the positioning of clients, and other physical assistance offered during daily care.
