Disability awareness

A thought provoking training session, that is a fundamental requirement for all, exploring legislation, the duty of service providers and personal needs.

Aims

By the end of the session delegates will have an understanding of The Disability Discrimination Act, and the importance it plays in the work place as a fundamental requirement and right for all staff.

Objectives

The training session will offer delegates an insight into the ways in which the DDA affects them and their colleagues by explaining:

  • relevant legislation
  • the duties of the employer
  • parts 2 and 3 of the act
  • visual and hearing impairment
  • mental health issues
  • social or equality models
  • preferred terminology
  • general etiquette tips
  • inclusive environments
