Scientific and Service User Research Committees

The Stroke Association relies on service users and leaders from within the stroke research community for help and advice on many stroke research issues.

People who are affected by stroke and expert researchers who specialise in a variety of stroke research disciplines sit on our committees to provide advice and opinions to The Stroke Association.

R&D Strategy Committee

This committee is made up of medical and lay trustees and key Stroke Association staff. The role of the committee is to update the Council of changes within the UK research environment which may affect Association activities and to develop the Stroke Association’s Research Strategy

Research Awards Committee

This committee consists of 20 researchers who are expert in a specific field of stroke and 2 service users and is integral in deciding what research The Stroke Association supports, ensuring that the research we fund is of the highest scientific quality.

Service User Review Panel

This panel consists of 22 people who have been affected by stroke. The panel reviews the research applications which are submitted.
