Research Awards Committee

The Research Awards Committee is chaired by a Trustee Honorary Officer, designated as Chairman, with a majority of non-Trustees as members; all of whom are expert researchers within their respective fields of stroke.

Two service user members of the Research Awards Committee have also recently been appointed, as well as a panel of approximately 20 people who have been affected by stroke.

The Service User Review Panel will be directly involved in the project grant adjudication process by undertaking the reviewing of all applications for research project grants to The Stroke Association.  The Service User Research Awards Committee members will collate the scores and comments generated by the Service User Review Panel and report to the Committee as a whole at the adjudication meetings.

The Research Awards Committee meets three times a year and is responsible for the following tasks:

  • assessing grant award applications

  • making recommendations to Council to fund research, in relation to all aspects of stroke illness, that meets the Committee's quality standards.
