Research Department

The Research Department currently consists of:

Dr Joanne Knight - Director of Research and Development
Dr Peter Coleman - Deputy Director of Research and Development
Joanne Murphy - Research Liaison Officer
Philip Matusavage - Research Administrator
Sally Atkinson - UK Stroke Forum Co-ordinator

The functions of the Research Department include:

• managing the adjudication process of new award applications, and the administration of ongoing awards
  
• promoting research funded by The Stroke Association
  
• representing stroke patients and carers in research activities outside of the Association
  
• encouraging research funding bodies, such as the Medical Research Council and the Department of Health, to fund stroke research
  
• supporting the Research Awards Committee and the Research and Development Strategy Committee
  
• organising The UK Stroke Forum Conference.
