Research and Development Strategy

Recently a number of changes have taken place within the stroke research community following the creation of the Stroke Research Network, the UK Stroke Forum and the National Institute for Health Research, plus the development of a National Stroke Strategy and a new single health research fund.

The Stroke Association has carried out a review of its research activities to ensure that its research funding is effectively addressing the needs of stroke patients, and contributing to the development of knowledge in stroke care within the current climate.

The new Stroke Association Research Strategy can be found by following the link below:

Research and Development Strategy 2007-2012

The strategy has been developed following a review of research funded from 1993 to 2003, and extensive consultation with researchers, stroke survivors and their carers, healthcare workers and other relevant bodies.
