Research Project Grants
Applications are invited for research grants in the field of stroke. The closing date for consideration at the 2012 June Awards Meeting will be 5pm, Friday 3 February 2012.
The Stroke Association has recently undertaken a review of its activities and has developed a new Research and Development Strategy. As a result, applications for Research Project Grants have been revised and new application forms have been developed.
All applications for funding by The Stroke Association will now undergo review by a panel of service users in addition to expert peer review. Therefore all applicants will now be required to complete a Project Grant Lay Summary Form, as well as the main Research Project Grant Application Form.
Details of the new procedures and forms can be found on these pages. Applications that are not submitted on the new forms will not be accepted for this application round.
The Stroke Association’s priorities for funding include research into the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and long-term care of stroke patients. The majority of funded projects are patient orientated.
Grants are limited to a maximum of £70,000 per annum for up to three years (up to a maximum of £210,000). The Stroke Association is currently only able to fund research conducted within the United Kingdom.
Research applications are welcomed to the following funding streams; please follow the links for the application procedures and forms:
Clinical Trial Project Grants
Project applications incorporating a randomised controlled trial or clinical trial.
Community Care Research Project Grants
Project applications focused on non-hospital based long-term care.
Developmental Research Project Grants
Project applications that are focused on areas which fall outside the remit of community care, and do not incorporate clinical trials.
Currently, approximately one in six projects is funded in each round of grant applications.
We do not currently fund research that involves the use of laboratory animals. Please follow the link below for further details:
The Stroke Association is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC), and meets all membership criteria.
