Research
Supporting and promoting research into stroke prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and long-term care is an important function of The Stroke Association.
This research is crucial to provide doctors, nurses and other health professionals with evidence to help convince NHS commissioners to develop improved clinical services and care for stroke patients. It is also important that we continue to learn how stroke may be prevented, so that the number of people having their first and subsequent strokes is reduced.
The Stroke Association not only supports its own varied programme of research, but also encourages the Government and other funding bodies to increase their spending on stroke research.
