We are continuing our long-running partnership with British Heart Foundation (BHF). Our joint funding is now being administered by the BHF Clinical Study Grants scheme. Applicants to this scheme that focus on stroke research will be asked whether they agree to their application being with the Stroke Association.

Where the Stroke Association confirms potential joint funding, we will feed into the review process, and nominate a representative to attend the BHF Clinical Study Committee.

Decision process

Applications are assessed in a two-stage process: an outline application followed by a full application.

Outline applications

Outline applications are considered throughout the year and are assessed by an internal BHF panel. You can find the most up-to-date information about when applications will be assessed on the BHF website.

If your outline application is approved, you will be invited to submit a full application. Please allow up to 9 weeks for your outline to be considered as well as sufficient time to prepare a full application after receiving feedback.

Full applications

There are two funding rounds a year for full applications for BHF Clinical Study Grants, you can find the most up-to-date information about cut-off dates for applications on the BHF website.
