Development of Research Centres

In order to ensure that the volume and quality of stroke research improves it is essential that good research centres are developed. Supporting the growth of developing research centres in the UK is therefore a priority for The Stroke Association.

Chair in Stroke Medicine

The Stroke Association funds a Chair in Stroke Medicine to carry out research into, and the teaching of the nature, causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of stroke and the rehabilitation of patients after stroke in hospital and in the community

The Stroke Association Rehabilitation Research Centre

A research centre to investigate rehabilitation interventions for stroke patients based at Southampton General Hospital.

The Stroke Association Senior Clinical Research Fellow

The Stroke Association is supporting a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the Stroke Prevention Research Unit, University of Oxford.

The Stroke Association Senior Research Fellow in Community Stroke Care

The Stroke Association is currently supporting Dr Jenni Murray, a Senior Research Fellow in Community Stroke Care in the Academic Unit for Elderly Care and Rehabilitation at the University of Leeds.

Surgical Research Fellow

The fellow is receiving training in a variety of techniques related to stroke surgery whilst carrying out a research project in a related area
