Getting involved
Who can volunteer?
Nearly anyone can volunteer for The Stroke Association. We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome volunteers from all backgrounds.Currently our volunteers include people who have had a stroke, students, retired people, disabled and non-disabled people, employed and unemployed people, people of all ages and sexualities and people of all ethnic and religious backgrounds.
We aim to find a volunteer role that suits you, and we CRB check all our volunteers and staff who have access to young people or vulnerable adults.
Why do people get involved with The Stroke Association as volunteers?
All of our current volunteers work willingly, happily and with bags of enthusiasm towards overcoming stroke and its affects.
There are many different motives that inspire people to get involved with The Stroke Association:
• Retirement, to make use of years of experience, knowledge and expertise
• Between jobs, making use of time before a new job starts
• Unemployment, to gain experience in specialist areas before setting off on a new career path
• Students, to gain essential course experience
• Spare time, volunteering any spare time for The Stroke Association is welcomed. Giving a few hours is still rewarding
• Skills, the skills that you have can be used to benefit the whole association.
Whatever your reason to get involved we would love to hear from you.
