Description

Swansea Stroke Survivors Group was set up in April 2022 by a retired occupational therapist who specialised in stroke recovery. We are a friendly and welcoming bunch of stroke survivors, family, carers and friends. Anyone affected by stroke whether the survivor or otherwise is welcome and there is no age limit.
The group runs in a friendly pub which is fully accessible and many members choose to stay for lunch at the pub afterwards. The pub manager is extremely accommodating to everything we want to do and is keen to give back to the community. We have a wonderful staff member who keeps us supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits which we purchase with some of the weekly subs of £2.00. We usually have around 25 people attending each week with a variety of abilities. The group acts as a self help support group providing understanding, friendship, information and fun. The retired OT is happy to offer rehabilitation during the session for those interested. We alternate weeks as far as possible between speakers or activities and “free” weeks where we just chat. There is a weekly raffle with the price included in the subs. Trips are occasionally arranged locally or further afield.
We are always looking for new members so please just come along or ring / e mail if you want further information. We have a Facebook page that you are welcome to join called “Swansea Stroke Survivors Group” which details activities past and future.
