Description

The Stroke Club at Time and Talents is the only place in Southwark where people who have survived strokes and their carers can get together to share their experiences.  The group meets once a week on a Wednesday for two hours at Time and Talents for a range of activities.
Some of the sessions are designed to help members with their disabilities and health concerns. They can hear about the latest treatments and therapies for stroke survivors from clinicians specialising in the subject, take part in gentle exercise sessions, listen to talks about the latest adaptations available and improvements in equipment like wheelchairs and mobility scooters. They can take part in facilitated discussions to help them come to terms with their changed lives and benefit from knowing that they are not alone and there is support for them here.   However, they also meet for fun with activities such as singing, music, quizzes and reminiscence workshops.
The group also regularly go out bowling, to art galleries, museums and theatres. These outings counteract the feeling of social isolation felt by stroke survivors and let them experience normal activities.Members must be based in Southwark and come to us by referral.More information is on our website: https://www.timeandtalents.org.uk/older-peoples-programmes-list/
