About this service

Do you care for someone affected by stroke? Join our support and information sessions for carers in Sheffield.

Whether you are new to the carer role or have been caring for years, this programme will help you understand stroke, and how to support yourself and a stroke survivor during the recovery journey.

What does this service offer?

We provide a five week face-to-face support and information programme to help reduce the emotional and physical challenges of being a stroke survivor's carer. Our three-hour sessions are held once a week and cover a wide range of topics including:

  • stroke and understanding the hidden effects 
  • how to support someone safely and well 
  • where to go for support and advice 
  • practical tips on caring with confidence 
  • the importance of looking after your own health and well-being.

Who is the service for?

Caring and You is available to family or friends of stroke survivors in Sheffield who find themselves in a caring role. Through these support and information sessions we aim to provide you with advice and support. You may benefit from attending if you are feeling stressed, anxious, depressed, isolated and/or want to improve your skills and knowledge of caring.
