About this service

The Sheffield Emotional Support Service provides counselling and emotional support to stroke survivors, their carers and family members in the Sheffield area. Together with a qualified counsellor, service users can explore any issues arising from the effects of stroke such as loss, anxiety, anger, depression and relationship issues.

This service offers:

  • An assessment of emotional needs.
  • Counselling sessions.
  • Support through the emotional impacts of stroke.

Who is the service for?

This service is for stroke survivors (including TIAs/mini-strokes) of any age, and families and carers of people affected by stroke, living in Sheffield. It is available in weekly or fortnightly sessions for six to eight weeks.

If you are unable to find a suitable service or group in your area, contact our Stroke Helpline on 0303 3033 100, or email helpline@stroke.org.uk, and we may be able to put you in touch with alternative support.
