What is Make May Purple?
Make May Purple is our Stroke Association fundraising and awareness campaign that coincides with National Stroke Awareness month – May.
When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. That’s because a stroke happens in the brain, the control centre for who we are and what we can do. Recovery is tough, but with the right specialist support and a ton of courage and determination, the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.
This May, we’re asking our amazing supporters - like you reading this page - to help us Make May Purple and rebuild lives after stroke. We’ve got lots of different ideas for events you could hold, and all you have to do is sign up below, choose what type of event or challenge you want to do (or if you don’t know, that’s okay too!), get your fundraising pack and start planning! Don’t forget to tag us on social media using #MakeMayPurple and let us know what you’re doing!
UPDATE: Just to let you all know, in light of the current situation with COVID-19, we are reviewing this offering. You'll still be able to sign up, but please note that postal packs are not being sent from our warehouse at this time – in the interim, you'll receive a digital download pack in your first email. We're monitoring the situation day by day, and our supporters' health and safety is our number one priority – please stay safe everyone.
With donations and support from you and your community, we can rebuild even more lives. Because we believe that everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke.
How your money helps
By getting involved and fundraising for us, you’ll be playing an invaluable role in supporting our services and helping more people to rebuild their life after stroke. As many of you know, feeling yourself again after a stroke can be a very long and difficult journey. There are enormous challenges, not only for stroke survivors, but for their loved ones too. But with the right support, stroke survivors can begin to rebuild their life, finding the new normal after stroke.
If you’ve got any questions, need some inspiration or help planning your event, please contact your local fundraising office. We’re here to help.
