Hold a gaming tournament - get your family, friends or office involved in a gaming competition. Crown a gaming champion and raise money at the same time. Charge people to enter and see who is the best at a certain game.

Livestream your hobby - we have seen streamers showing off their cookery, painting, sewing skills and much more for their audiences. Simply stream what you love and ask your audience for donations.

Helpful hints

How to set up a gaming tournament:

A gaming tournament is completely up to you. Why not crown a new champion on Fifa or see who is quickest on Mario Kart?

  • Choose a game - you can choose any game but a sport or racing game work the best. Something where people can compete against each other.
  • Get a group of friends or colleagues together - charge a small donation to enter.
  • Set your tournament - a knockout tournament works best, where you are left with one winner or you could play a mix of games and crown whoever wins the most games as your gaming champion.

At the event, why not add in a games-themed bake sale or include some donation-based forfeits for particularly bad players?

How to set up a livestream gaming marathon:

The most popular platform to live stream your gaming is through Twitch. You can watch and chat with millions of gamers all around the world. The basics for setting up a livestream gaming marathon are a Twitch account and a JustGiving page.

At this stage, you can just put a link to your JustGiving page in one of the panels on Twitch and get gaming, but that'll mean people will have to leave your stream to donate. Using video broadcast software, such as OBS Studio, you can create browser source overlays in Twitch to get in-stream donations and keep people watching.

To do this, you'll have to connect your JustGiving page and Twitch account. If you have any trouble, JustGiving has created a step by step guide to setting up OBS, Twitch and JustGiving. Now you are ready to start gaming
