This Stroke Prevention Day (Thursday 12 January), we're asking people to check their pulse for atrial fibrillation. AF is a factor in one in five strokes and half a million people are living with AF and don't know it. Together we hope we can raise awareness of the prevalence of AF and encourage people to check themselves for AF.
People who suspect they have AF will be encouraged to contact their GP surgery/practice to discuss next steps. Stroke survivors living with AF will be pointed to our guidance on managing their AF.
You can support us to encourage people to check their pulse by sharing our suggested wording and image on your social channels. The more people who take action, the more strokes we can prevent.
