We have appointed Ceri Jackson as the charity’s newest trustee.
Ceri has 25 years’ experience working in the third sector and with healthcare systems across the UK in; consultant, executive and non-executive roles. She is currently a management consultant supporting third sector organisations in strategic and transformational projects.
Ceri, who is based in Cardiff, will also take on the role of Chair of the Stroke Association’s Wales Advisory Committee, working closely with the charity’s senior leadership team in Wales.
Ceri said, “It’s a privilege to take on this role with the Stroke Association at what is a pivotal time for stroke in Wales; with the imminent end of the Government’s Stroke Delivery Plan and the upcoming appointment of a new Wales Clinical Lead on Stroke.
The Covid pandemic has had a huge impact on stroke survivors’ recoveries and wellbeing and I look forward to supporting the charity as it holds the Government and health systems to account as we recover from Covid and beyond.
I know the staff and volunteers at the Stroke Association are extremely passionate and I look forward to seeing first-hand how they’ve found new ways to support vulnerable stroke survivors during the pandemic.”
Juliet Bouverie, the charity’s Chief Executive said, “There are almost 70,000 stroke survivors living in Wales and a stroke strikes every five minutes. We know that with the right support and a ton of determination, people can rebuild their lives after stroke.
We’re delighted to welcome Ceri to the board of trustees and the Wales Advisory Committee. I’m confident that her expertise will help us achieve our vision of a world where there are fewer strokes and all those affected by stroke get the help they need to rebuild their lives.”
Ceri is appointed following the retirement of long-standing trustee and Wales Advisory Committee Chair Stuart Fletcher OBE.

Mae gan Ceri 25 mlynedd o brofiad o weithio yn y trydydd sector a chyda systemau gofal iechyd ledled y Deyrnas Unedig; mewn rolau ymgynghorol, gweithredol ac anweithredol.
Ar hyn o bryd, mae hi’n ymgynghorydd rheoli sy’n cynorthwyo sefydliadau’r trydydd sector â phrosiectau strategol a gweddnewidiol.
Bydd Ceri, sy’n byw yng Nghaerdydd, hefyd yn ymgymryd â rôl Cadeirydd Pwyllgor Cynghori’r Gymdeithas Strôc yng Nghymru, gan weithio’n agos gydag uwch dîm arweinyddiaeth yr elusen yng Nghymru.
Dywedodd Ceri, “Mae’n fraint ymgymryd â’r rôl hon gyda’r Gymdeithas Strôc ar yr hyn sy’n adeg allweddol i strôc yng Nghymru; o ystyried bod Cynllun Cyflawni ar gyfer Strôc y Llywodraeth ar fin dod i ben a bod Arweinydd Clinigol newydd wedi cael ei benodi ar gyfer Strôc yng Nghymru.
“Mae’r pandemig Covid wedi cael effaith fawr ar adferiad a lles goroeswyr strôc, ac edrychaf ymlaen at gefnogi’r elusen wrth iddi ddal y Llywodraeth a systemau iechyd i gyfrif wrth i ni adfer ar ôl Covid a thu hwnt.
Rwy’n gwybod bod staff a gwirfoddolwyr y Gymdeithas Strôc yn frwdfrydig iawn, ac edrychaf ymlaen at weld drosof fy hun sut maen nhw wedi dod o hyd i ffyrdd newydd o gynorthwyo goroeswyr strôc agored i niwed yn ystod y pandemig.”
Dywedodd Juliet Bouverie, Prif Weithredwr yr elusen, “Mae bron 70,000 o oroeswyr strôc yn byw yng Nghymru ac mae rhywun yn cael strôc bob pum munud. Rydym yn gwybod, gyda’r cymorth iawn ac agwedd benderfynol, bod pobl yn gallu ailadeiladu eu bywydau ar ôl strôc.
“Rydym yn falch iawn o groesawu Ceri i’r bwrdd ymddiriedolwyr a Phwyllgor Cynghori Cymru. Rwy’n ffyddiog y bydd ei harbenigedd yn ein helpu i gyflawni ein gweledigaeth o fyd lle mae llai o bobl yn cael strôc a lle mae pawb y mae strôc yn effeithio arnynt yn cael y cymorth y mae arnynt ei angen i ailadeiladu eu bywydau.”
