For the first time in over two years, Amazing Brains returned as an in-person event at the Francis Crick Institute, bringing together both an in-person and virtual audience.
The event celebrated progress and innovation in the latest stroke research and was a part of our 'Stroke Research Means Everything' campaign. Find out more about the campaign.
The exclusive event was hosted by our special guest Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle in Emmerdale and our Chief Executive, Juliet Bouverie OBE. Presentations were delivered by three incredible speakers; Dr Terry Quinn, Professor Audrey Bowen and Professor Adewale Adebajo MBE, who each presented their own perspective on the impact stroke can have on memory and thinking, and were joined by 120 of our loyal supporters in person and over 600 guests online.
Dr Terry Quinn is a Reader in Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences at the University of Glasgow and a Senior Clinical Lecturer and an Honorary Consultant Physician in Stroke at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. His research centres on how to measure complex ideas such as thinking and memory abilities, so that we can assess them accurately in research and in clinical practice.

Professor Audrey Bowen researches neurological rehabilitation at the University of Manchester. Her work focuses on improving services for people with neurological and psychological difficulties such as those experienced by stroke survivors.

Professor Adewale Adebajo MBE is a Consultant in Rheumatology at the Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, an Honorary Professor in Musculoskeletal Health Service Research at the University of Sheffield, a member of our Stroke Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) steering group, and a stroke survivor. He will present a very special talk on his experiences of stroke, the importance of the PSP and the difference that research can make to rebuilding lives after stroke.
