Resource type: Information leaflet

Publication type: Publication

Resource type

For a child, a friend or family member having a stroke can be overwhelming and confusing. They might wonder why it happened and whether their loved one will get better.

This guide explains in simple language what a stroke is, why it happens and what problems it can cause. It also explains what changes a child might notice in someone following a stroke and how they might feel about them. At the end of the guide, there's a list of resources including storybooks that can explain more about stroke and its effects.
